Upper Twp Girls Softball Rules for Minor Teams


1. No walks. Upon ball 4 called, the batter's coach shall pitch to the batter
Until the ball is put in play by the batter or the batter is called out on
Strikes. The coach shall pitch from the same distance as the players.

2. If the batter is hit by a pitch that bounced before it hit the batter, the pitch will be called a ball. If it hits the batter by traveling through the air, the batter receives a free base.

3. A team is permitted 3 steals per inning. The runner cannot advance on an overthrow during the steal play. There is no stealing home.

4. The ball is a live ball upon a hit. The play does not stop until the pitcher receives the ball and is inside the circle surrounding the mound. As a result, players can advance on overthrows to bases.

5. The games will consist of 5 innings. If possible the games will consist of
4 innings and end at 7:30 p.m. Meaning; avoid starting an inning after 7:30
p.m., unless agreed upon by both coaches.

6. The batting lineup can list all players attending the game and unlimited substitutions in the field are allowed.

7. A team can play 10 persons in the field.

8. A team cannot score more than 5 more runs than their opponent per inning.
Meaning; a team who is losing 5 to 0 can score 10 runs in one inning, thus allowing the score to become 5 to 10 at the end of that half of the inning. A team that goes up by 15 runs after three full innings will win the game.
