The GSA travel award application is now available here!

Welcome to the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) Travel Award Application. If you meet the requirements and submit this application, you are eligible for a single $500 award to reimburse you for expenses accumulated while traveling to present or conduct research between January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. Applications are due January 31 at 11:00 p.m. Late applications will not be considered. GSA allocated a total of $8000 (16 awards) to be distributed this year.

Typically, the Travel Award Application is only open to those traveling during the past year. However, GSA recognizes that traveling for research was severely limited because of COVID-19 restrictions in 2020. Therefore, this year's application will be open to those traveling during the past two years (i.e., from January 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020). Those who applied for last year's travel awards are able to reapply this year, however, priority will be given to graduate students who did not receive an award last year. Also, the application is different than last year, so please pay close attention to the directions. Applicants traveling between April 1, 2020 and December 1, 2020 will must provide documented approval from UT stating you were able to travel for business to consider your application.

Traveling for research is an expectation for many graduate students entering the workforce after they leave the university. Yet, there are few financial resources to help UT students fund this type of professional development during in graduate school. This is why the GSA Travel Award was created. We aim to supplement the expenses of traveling for research that graduate students encounter each year. We hope that by providing this resource, traveling for research will less of a financial burden on UT graduate students.
